‘Goodnight Melika’ to participate in Meihodo festival

Iranian short ‘Goodnight Melika’ is to be screened at the Meihodo Int’l Youth Visual Media Festival in the US.

Iranian short flick ‘Goodnight Melika’ has made its way to the Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival (MIYVMF) in the US.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that ‘Goodnight Melika’, written and directed by Alborz Poursayad, will be screened at the fourth edition of the MIYVMF.

“When no one wants you, you sleep with the aim of not waking up, may be forever…,” a synopsis for the film reads.

‘Goodnight Melika’ was named the Best International Short Film at the November-December session of the White Unicorn International Film Festival, which is jointly organized by professional organizations from India, Hong Kong, Italy, and Japan.

The MIYVMF is an independent film festival. It is hosted by the Japanese corporation, Meihodo Inc., which is “working to support and promote young international creators and provide a platform for cultural conversations between film producers from all over the world”, the website of the event reads.

The festival aims to “bring young visual artists from around the world together to celebrate the art of filmmaking”.

The annual festival debuted in Japan in 2018.

This year’s edition of the festival is set to be organized through Meihodo’s US headquarters in New York City.

The 2022 edition of the MIYVMF will announce the winners on February 22.
